Introduction

In 2001, Timberland, as the global outdoor lifestyle brand, started on one of its most important reforestation projects in Northern China’s Horqin Desert, situated in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in partnership with Japan-based non-profit organization – Green Network.

Overgrazing of the land and excessive deforestation by man has led to severe desertification which has changed the once lush and green Horqin Grassland into Horqin Desert. Timberland has planted 2.6 million trees in China’s Horqin Desert over the past 18 years.

This achievement is a key part of the company’s CSR efforts in Asia, and further demonstrates its continued commitment to protect, create and restore the outdoors and support the communities in which it operates.
